Paul's Pride

BB.gifWe're Bond & Bowery, a website with the most diverse selection of antiques, design, and fine art in cyberspace. We highlight quality pieces without the clutter of competing ads and excessive editorial content. B & B understands the importance of a valuable acquisition and its contribution to home decoration.

Your B & B Host: I'm George Evans, and I've spent the last 20 years importing and exporting antiques and fine design pieces from Europe. I'm a New York City dealer and I have two showrooms in Lambertville, New Jersey. Paul%20McCobb%20Chairs.jpg

I enjoy bringing you highlights from our B & B dealers on Design2Share, and this week we're proud to feature four chairs in outstanding condition by mid-century modern master Paul McCobb, nicknamed "America's Designer" for being a household name during the 1950s. This Set of 4 Paul McCobb Side Chairs is in excellent condition, and their design is classic and timeless.

This week's featured Bond & Bowery dealer, Sixteen Fifty Nine, has a great mix of excellent merchandise down in their Washington, DC showroom. Be sure to visit them at 1659 Wisconsin Avenue whenever you're next in the Capital City! I love the dry wit and sly humor of Sixteen Fifty Nine's four McCobb side chairs. Borrowing inspiration and basic styling from the classic Windsor chair, McCobb combined vinyl, fine wood, and iron to make a completely new and original creation that has the great Windsor flow. The styling is Jetsons, yet very wise and knowing. These chairs will never go out of style.

Use the four side chairs at a dining room table, mirroring the traditional Windsor side chairs shown in the photo below of a beautiful Bucks County, PA dining room designed by Eldon Wong. Or you can split the four chairs into one pair and two singles -- each single in a bedroom as a side chair or desk chair and the pair of chairs on either side of a console in an entry foyer or on either side of a dining room sideboard. Nothing could be more versatile than these four lovely McCobb classics.

We know these four side chairs will look great in your home!
