Black and White Accessories Pack a Powerful Punch

Irwin Weiner ASID - Certainly we should try to shake up our interiors now that winter is beginning to turn into spring. We all need that jolt of freshness by adding some crisp accent touches to any room. Black and white happens to be one of my favorites. These b&w notes in today's most contemporary accessories will surely clean the cobwebs out of any space in your home. Take the amazing Kelly Wearstler Luxe Fractured Throw (above). Bold and sophisticated lines, 100% baby alpaca wool - what could be more heavenly draped over a chaise, sofa, or bed? (Click on each product photo for more information.)

How about this black-and-white pair of Tri Taper Candleholders from CB2 for adding fluid, dramatic notes to a dining table or console? The smaller white and larger black piece look like they were yanked from a MoMA exhibit. Very sculptural.

I like the daring look of black and white in a bathroom, especially in spring when you're expecting soft pastels. Black and white jolts the eye and gives you fresh in an unexpected way, as in the Poppy Shower Curtain from CB2.

Kelly Wearstler strikes again with her audacious Big Kiss (in carved black negro marquina) and Little Kiss (carved white carrara marble). Solid, sassy, heavy, heavenly.

No wall should be left untouched in your black-and-white makeover! We love these four Abstract Brushstrokes Prints by designer Thom Felicia for Williams-Sonoma. The painterly strokes are minimal, yet dynamic.

Finally, the Two Tone Perforated Vase by Kelly Wearstler is an artisanal delight. The slim profile makes it a divine decorating solution for a skinny console table or shallow end table. I'd even like to turn it into a lamp base!
